오이량은 조선대학교 미술대학 회화과를 졸업하고 일본 도쿄 다마미술대학 대학원에서 판화를 전공한 작가이다. 지금까지 다수의 개인전과 단체전을 통해 작품 세계를 선보였으며, 여러 국제 판화 비엔날레와 공모전에서 작품성을 인정받아 왕성하게 활동하고 있는 판화 작가이다.

그는 두터운 요철을 화면에 새기는 독특한 판화 기법을 통해 존재의 심연에서 울려 퍼지는 파동을 반복적인 타원형의 형태로 표현해 왔다. 이러한 조형 언어는 화면에 깊이와 밀도를 형성하며, 감각적인 긴장감을 만들어낸다.

오이량의 작업은 구체적인 이미지 묘사보다는 판화라는 매체가 지닌 물성과 제작 과정을 드러내는 데 초점을 둔다. 작가는 지문처럼 펼쳐지는 타원형의 곡선과 부채꼴 문양의 기하학적 형태가 자연의 울림과 존재, 그리고 끊임없이 변화하는 자연의 무한한 공간을 상징한다고 말한다.

Oh Yi Yang studied Painting at Chosun University and completed her master’s degree in Printmaking at Tama Art University in Tokyo. She has presented her work through numerous solo and group exhibitions and has been actively recognized through international printmaking biennales and competitions.

Through a distinctive printmaking technique that engraves thick, textured reliefs into the surface, she visualizes resonating waves emerging from the depths of existence in the form of repeated elliptical shapes. These forms create a sense of density and depth, generating subtle yet powerful visual tension.

Rather than focusing on representational imagery, Oh Yi Yang’s work emphasizes the materiality of objects and the intrinsic processes of printmaking itself. She describes the fingerprint-like elliptical curves and fan-shaped geometric patterns as symbols of natural resonance, existence, and the infinite, ever-changing expanse of nature.
