고려명은 2009년 프랑스 Speos Paris Photographic Institute를 졸업했다. 2024년 학고재에서 열린 <PODO>를 비롯해 ART SG(2025), 아트부산(2023), THE HYUNDAI SEOUL ART COLLECTION(2021) 등 국내외 전시와 아트페어에서 작품을 선보여 왔다.

사진이라는 매체를 통해 사물의 본질과 존재의 의미를 탐구하는 고려명의 대표 연작인 <포도> 시리즈는 일상적인 소재인 포도를 극도로 확대해 촬영함으로써 우리가 쉽게 지나쳤던 대상의 물질성과 형태를 새롭게 바라보게 한다.

작가는 대형 아날로그 카메라와 고해상도 촬영 방식을 기반으로 포도의 표면과 질감, 색채를 섬세하게 담아내며, 단순한 기록을 넘어 존재 자체를 응시하는 작업을 이어가고 있다. 화면 속 포도는 포도가 놓인 장소에 대한 어떠한 힌트도 제시하지 않은 채 하나의 독립된 대상으로 제시되며, 대상이 지닌 본질에 더욱 집중하도록 이끈다.

고려명의 작품은 하이퍼리얼리즘의 정교한 표현을 바탕으로 풍요와 생명, 생성과 소멸, 시간의 흔적을 담아낸다. 그는 눈에 보이는 형상을 충실하게 재현하는 데 그치지 않고 사물 안에 내재한 본질을 탐구하며, 익숙한 대상을 새로운 시선으로 바라보게 하는 작품 세계를 구축하고 있다.

Koh Ryeo Myoung graduated from Speos Paris Photographic Institute in France in 2009. He has presented his work at exhibitions and art fairs in Korea and abroad, including <PODO> at Hakgojae in 2024, ART SG in 2025, Art Busan in 2023, and THE HYUNDAI SEOUL ART COLLECTION in 2021.

Through photography, Koh Ryeo Myoung explores the essence of objects and the meaning of existence. His representative <Grape> series presents the familiar subject of grapes at an extreme scale, inviting viewers to reconsider the materiality and form of objects that might otherwise be easily overlooked.

Working with large-format analog cameras and high-resolution photographic techniques, the artist meticulously captures the surfaces, textures, and colors of grapes. His practice moves beyond simple documentation toward a sustained contemplation of existence itself. Presented without any contextual clues about their surroundings, the grapes appear as independent subjects, directing attention toward their intrinsic essence.

Rooted in the precise visual language of hyperrealism, Koh Ryeo Myoung’s works engage with abundance and life, creation and decay, and the traces of time. Rather than merely reproducing visible forms, he investigates the essence inherent within objects and has developed a body of work that encourages viewers to encounter the familiar from a renewed perspective.
