백종환은 국민대학교에서 공간디자인을 전공하고 동 대학원에서 공간설계를 공부했으며, 현재 국민대학교 겸임교수로 재직 중이다. 2004년부터 월가어소시에이트에서 근무한 뒤 2015년 WGNB를 설립해 공간을 중심으로 가구와 제품 등 분야의 경계를 넘나들며 활동하고 있다.

그의 작업은 국내를 넘어 해외에서도 높은 평가를 받아 JCD 디자인 어워드와 레드닷 디자인 어워드에서 수상했으며, 2018년에는 FRAME Awards와 iF 디자인 어워드에서 최고상인 골드를 수상했다. 같은 해 독일 디자인 위원회가 주최하는 아이코닉 어워드에서 ‘2018 올해의 스튜디오’로 선정되며 국제적인 입지를 확고히 했다.

이후에도 2021 FRAME Awards와 DEZEEN Awards 등 세계적인 디자인 어워드를 연이어 수상했다. SUMMIT GALLERY, 분더샵, 준지 플래그십 스토어, 솔드아웃 무신사, EMPTY 무신사 등 다양한 공간 디자인을 맡아왔으며, 최근에는 건축과 가구 디자인으로 영역을 확장하며 다층적인 작업을 이어가고 있다.

Baek Jong Hwan studied Spatial Design at Kookmin University and completed his graduate studies in spatial planning at the same institution, where he currently serves as an adjunct professor. After working at Walga Associates from 2004, he founded WGNB in 2015 and has since pursued an interdisciplinary practice spanning spatial design, furniture, and product design.

His work has received international recognition, earning awards such as the JCD Design Award and the Red Dot Design Award. In 2018, he received the Gold Award—the highest honor—at the iF Design Award, as well as recognition at the FRAME Awards. That same year, he was named “Studio of the Year” at the Iconic Awards hosted by the German Design Council.

Continuing his success, Baek swept major global design accolades including the 2021 FRAME Awards and the 2021 DEZEEN Awards. He has led spatial design projects for venues such as SUMMIT GALLERY, Boon the Shop, the JUUN.J flagship store, Soldout Musinsa, and EMPTY Musinsa. Recently, his practice has expanded further into architecture and furniture design, exploring new dimensions of spatial experience.
