André Stempfel is a visual artist born in Lyon, France, currently based in Paris. Working across painting, sculpture, installation, and printmaking, he continues to develop a distinctive artistic practice that freely crosses genres and media.

He was a member of a French artist group associated with the renowned Auguste Herbin show, and from the 1980s onward collaborated with MADI (Multi-Channel Audio Digital Interface) artists, presenting performances and projects in various parts of the world. His work has been featured in solo exhibitions at galleries in Paris, Japan, Russia, and Brazil, and his monumental works are installed in France and Germany.

Stempfel’s work is characterized by a minimalist sensibility, most notably through his frequent use of intense, high-value yellow to convey messages of hope.
