PARK RYU SOOK GALLERY
Since its founding in 1983, Park Ryu Sook Gallery has been dedicated to promoting Dansaekhwa, a pivotal movement in Korean contemporary art. Capturing Korean sensibility and spirituality, Dansaekhwa has established itself as a distinctive form of Korean modernism, and the gallery has played a key role in introducing it to the international stage. The gallery presents works by leading figures of Korean contemporary art, including Yun Hyung-geun, Jeong Chang-seop, Kim Tae-ho, Kim Tschang-yeul, Park Seo-bo, Chun Kwang-young, and Chung Sang-hwa, alongside internationally active artists such as Kwon Dae-seop, Lee Seung-hee, Lee Hun-chung, Park Jong-pil, Nam Tchun-mo, and Choi Jeong-hwa. Expanding beyond painting to encompass ceramics, photography, and diverse generations of artists, the gallery continues its research and exhibitions to deepen the aesthetic discourse of Dansaekhwa within global contemporary art history. Through these efforts, it contributes to elevating the stature of Korean art internationally while exploring new artistic possibilities where tradition and modernity harmoniously converge.
박여숙화랑은 1983년 설립 이래로 한국 현대미술의 중요한 흐름인 단색조 회화를 중심으로 활동해 왔다. 단색조 회화는 한국적 감수성과 정신세계를 담아 독창적인 한국 모더니즘으로 자리 잡았으며, 이를 세계에 알리는 데 주력하고 있다. 특히 윤형근, 정창섭, 김태호, 김창열, 박서보, 전광영, 정상화 등 한국 현대미술을 대표하는 거장들과 권대섭, 이승희, 이헌정, 박종필, 남춘모, 최정화 등 국제적으로 활발히 활동하는 작가들을 선보이고 있다. 회화뿐만 아니라 도자, 사진 등 다양한 장르와 세대를 아우르며 한국 미술의 폭을 넓히고 있으며, 세계 현대미술사에서 단색조 회화가 더욱 깊이 있는 미학적 체계를 확립할 수 있도록 연구와 전시를 지속하고 있다. 또한 한국 미술의 품격을 높이고 국제적인 보편성을 확립하는 데 기여하며, 이를 통해 한국 문화의 독창성을 널리 알리고 전통과 현대가 조화를 이루는 미술의 새로운 가능성을 모색하고 있다.
