Korean contemporary artist Yoo Choong Mok has become the first Korean artist selected for the residency program at Silver Art Projects, a nonprofit arts organization based at the World Trade Center in New York.
Silver Art Projects operates approximately 44,000 square feet of creative space with support from Silverstein Properties. The program provides participating artists with independent studios, mentorship, professional development opportunities, and connections with art professionals.
Yoo Choong Mok is known for exploring the relationship between light, matter, space, and perception. His work uses transparency, reflection, and the physical properties of materials to create distinctive visual experiences.
Through the residency, Yoo will continue his artistic practice while engaging with artists and curators in New York. He has also been given the opportunity to exhibit his work for one year in a gallery on the 78th floor of 3 World Trade Center.
Gallery AP Space, located in New York's Chelsea neighborhood, described the selection as an important opportunity for Yoo to expand his artistic practice internationally. The gallery also plans to strengthen its collaboration with Silver Art Projects and support Korean contemporary artists in reaching wider international audiences.
