This two-person exhibition presents works by Yoo Sun Tai and Han Young at Gallery Gaia. The exhibition brings together two artists who have developed distinct artistic practices over decades, each exploring unique visual languages shaped by their individual sensibilities.

Yoo Sun Tai creates surreal imagery grounded in everyday objects such as apples, books, musical notes, and trees. Through meticulously composed paintings, he evokes a sense of meditation, allowing familiar objects to be reinterpreted through the viewer’s personal memories and perceptions.

In contrast, Han Young’s work is characterized by free, intuitive brushwork and luminous color. Rather than describing specific subjects, she focuses on fundamental elements such as space, form, and color. Her recent works reveal a shift toward brighter imagery, including figures of infants and angels rendered in radiant tones.

《유선태 & 한영 2인전》은 갤러리 가이아에서 선보이는 전시로, 각기 다른 개성과 조형 언어를 구축해온 두 작가의 작품 세계를 함께 조망한다.

사과, 책, 음표, 나무 등 일상적 사물을 통해 현실에 기반한 초현실적 이미지를 구축해온 유선태는 화면을 통해 관람객에게 명상의 이미지를 제시한다. 그의 작품 속 평범한 사물들은 관람자의 기억에 따라 각기 다른 의미로 해석된다.

한영은 색채 중심의 자유로운 터치와 자연스러운 이미지를 통해 공간과 형태, 색채라는 조형의 본질에 집중한다. 최근 작업에서는 어둡던 화면에서 벗어나 금빛 머리칼의 아기와 천사 등 밝고 환한 이미지로의 변화를 보여준다.

홍익대학교 서양화과에서 함께 수학한 두 작가는 1980년대 프랑스 파리에서 다시 만나 각자의 예술적 여정을 이어갔으며, 이후에도 서로 다른 방식으로 작업을 지속해왔다. 이번 전시는 구상과 추상이라는 형식적 차이를 넘어 예술적 상상력의 확장이라는 지점에서 만나는 두 작가의 정신적 교감을 살펴볼 수 있는 자리다.
