《어디서 무엇이 되어 다시 만나랴: 김환기 뉴욕시대》는 강릉시립미술관 솔올의 개관을 기념하는 특별전으로, 한국 추상미술의 거장 김환기의 뉴욕 시기(1963–1974) 작품 세계를 집중적으로 조망한다.

김환기는 일본 유학과 신사실파 활동을 거쳐 말년에 이르러 점을 기반으로 한 독창적인 추상 회화, 이른바 점화(點畵)를 완성했다. 본 전시는 점화가 본격적으로 전개된 뉴욕 시대의 주요 작품 약 100여 점을 통해 그의 예술적 탐구와 조형 언어를 살펴본다.
