YU QIPING
위치핑은 난징에서 태어난 중국 현대화가로, 난징대학에서 중국 회화를 전공했다. 그는 오사카, 고베, 교토, 서울, 베이징, 상하이, 홍콩 등 다양한 국제 전시에서 작품을 선보였다. 그의 작품은 중국 전통문화에 강하게 뿌리를 두고 있는 듯 보이지만, 깊이 들여다보면 현대적인 정신과 동양 전통의 영리한 융합을 엿볼 수 있다.

Yu Qiping is a contemporary Chinese artist born in Nanjing, who majored in Chinese painting at Nanjing University. He has participated in exhibitions across Osaka, Kobe, Kyoto, Seoul, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and more. While his work appears strongly rooted in traditional Chinese culture, a closer examination reveals a clever fusion of modern sensibility with Eastern traditions.
Yu’s work combines the deep domain of the “past” with the temporal dimension of the “present,” creating a visual and psychological sensibility. His works feature simple paintings with unfamiliar elements, such as restricted areas or mazes. Beneath the calm and serene surface, his paintings surprise viewers with meticulously calculated humor.
Recognized as a master of paradox, Yu overcomes the entanglements between the past and the present, infusing his art with a sense of fantasy.
