김제원 KIM JE WON
패션과 광고라는 역동적인 현장에서 감각을 다듬어 온 김제원은 2017년 첫 개인전 <The base>를 기점으로 사진가로서의 독자적인 예술 세계를 구축해오고 있다.
작가의 대표작인 ‘화병 시리즈’는 꽃을 담는 화병에 피사체를 응시하는 자신의 시선을 투영한 사유의 기록이다. 한 폭의 정물화처럼 정교하게 연출된 공간 안에서 작가는 명상적인 기다림을 통해 찰나의 장면을 포착한다. 그 화면 속에는 작가가 머물렀던 시간과 공기가 고스란히 박제되어 있다. 김제원에게 사진이란, 눈에 비친 찰나의 아름다움을 타인과 나누고 그 감각을 공유하는 가장 진실한 매개체이다.
Refining his sensibility within the dynamic fields of fashion and advertising, Kim Jewon has been building his own distinctive artistic world as a photographer since his first solo exhibition, <The base>, in 2017.
His representative body of work, the “Vase Series,” is a contemplative record in which he projects his own gaze onto the vase that holds the flowers. Within a meticulously staged space reminiscent of a still-life painting, the artist captures fleeting moments through meditative waiting. The time and air in which he lingered are delicately preserved within the frame. For Kim Jewon, photography is the most sincere medium through which he shares the fleeting beauty seen by his eyes and communicates that sensibility with others.
