이수킴은 드로잉을 기반으로 애니메이션과 패브릭 등 다양한 시각 매체를 넘나들며 작업을 이어가는 비주얼 아티스트이다. 홍익대학교에서 시각디자인을 전공한 후 독일 프랑크푸르트에서 활동하며 개인전과 다수의 그룹전에 참여했다.

작가는 산뜻하고 명쾌한 컬러와 단순한 형태를 통해 그림을 그리는 최초의 순간으로 되돌아가고자 하며, 어린 시절의 기억 속에서 자신의 정체성을 들여다본다. 이수킴에게 드로잉은 잘 다듬어진 목소리가 아닌 마음속으로 중얼거리는 혼잣말과 같은 것으로, 천진한 낙서의 조각들을 커다란 색면으로 단순화해 다시 조립한 결과물이다.

추상적인 요소와 알록달록한 색감이 어우러진 그의 작품은 내면의 기억을 순수한 상태로 마주하게 한다. 작가가 그리는 ‘Joy’ 또는 ‘친구들’은 마치 화면의 프레임 밖으로 용감하게 걸어 나오는 듯한 경쾌한 에너지로 현대인의 일상에 생기를 불어넣는다.

Isu Kim is a visual artist whose practice is rooted in drawing and extends across various media including animation and fabric. After majoring in Visual Design at Hongik University, she has been based in Frankfurt, Germany, where she has held solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group shows.

Through fresh, vibrant colors and simplified forms, Kim seeks to return to the very first moment of drawing, exploring her own identity through memories of childhood. For the artist, drawing is not a refined or polished voice, but rather an internal monologue—murmured to oneself—reassembled from innocent doodles that are reduced into broad planes of color.

In her works, abstract elements and lively color palettes come together to confront inner memories with sincerity and clarity. Figures such as “Joy” or “Friends” appear to step bravely beyond the frame, infusing contemporary everyday life with a lighthearted and uplifting energy.
