KANG KYOUNG SOON
강경순은 서울 효자동에서 태어나 어린 시절부터 그림 그리기를 좋아하며 자연스럽게 예술의 길로 들어섰다. 동덕여자대학교 회화과를 졸업한 후 관훈화랑에서 첫 전시를 열며 본격적인 작품 활동을 시작했다.
이후 예술의전당, 가진화랑, 국립현대미술관, 아랍미술관, 호암갤러리, 관훈갤러리 등에서 수많은 개인전과 단체전에 참여하며 꾸준히 작업 세계를 확장해왔다. 그의 작품들은 오랜 시간 축적된 열정과 성실함을 고스란히 보여준다.
화면에 형상화된 이미지는 곧 작가의 삶으로, 강경순은 전통적인 화법과 새로운 기법을 조화롭게 결합해 자신의 이상에 가까운 세계를 표현한다. 그의 그림에서는 장인정신과 리얼리티가 균형을 이루며 드러나고, 겉과 속을 함께 보여주는 고지식한 아름다움은 강경순의 작업에서만 만날 수 있는 고유한 특징이다.
Kang Kyoung Soon was born in Hyoja-dong, Seoul, and developed a love for drawing from an early age, naturally leading her toward a life in art. After graduating from the Department of Painting at Dongduk Women’s University, she held her first exhibition at Gwanhun Gallery, marking the beginning of her professional career.
Since then, she has actively presented her work through numerous solo and group exhibitions at venues including the Seoul Arts Center, Gajin Gallery, the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, the Arab Art Museum, Ho-Am Gallery, and Gwanhun Gallery. Her extensive body of work reflects a sustained dedication marked by passion and diligence.
The images formed on her canvas are inseparable from her life itself. By harmonizing traditional painting techniques with new approaches, Kang expresses a world closely aligned with her ideals. Her paintings reveal a balance between craftsmanship and realism, embodying a sincere beauty that exposes both surface and depth—a quality rarely found outside of her distinctive artistic practice.
