황덕희는 칠공예를 중심으로 오랜 시간 작품 활동을 이어온 작가이다. 서울여자대학에서 시각디자인을 전공한 후 일본 가나자와 미술공예대학 연구과 및 대학원에서 칠공을 공부하며 전문적인 작업의 기반을 다졌다. 시각디자인에서 출발해 칠공예로 작업의 영역을 확장한 작가는 한국과 일본을 오가며 다양한 작품 활동과 교류를 이어왔다.

일본 유학 시절 ROTARY YONEYAMA 장학생으로 선정되었으며, 가나자와 시장상과 일본 칠공협회 장학상을 수상하고 ‘89 Design Competition 石川과 제46회 가나자와시 공예전에 입선했다. 또한 가나자와에서 열린 염색·칠 2인전과 가나자와 국제미술교류전 등에 참여했으며, 국제미술교류전에 출품한 작품은 가나자와 미술대학에 소장되어 있다. 이후 국내에서도 다수의 그룹전과 단체전에 참여하며 작품 활동을 지속해왔다.

황덕희는 작품 활동과 함께 경성대학교와 한남대학교 등에서 출강하며 교육 활동을 이어왔으며, 한국 칠예가회 회원이자 국가유산수리기능자(칠공)로 활동하고 있다. 오랜 시간 칠공예 분야에서 쌓아온 경험을 바탕으로 작품 활동을 이어가고 있다.

Hwang Duk Hee is an artist who has devoted many years to lacquer craft. After studying Visual Design at Seoul Women's University, she continued her studies in lacquer craft in the research program and graduate school at Kanazawa College of Art in Japan, establishing a professional foundation for her practice. Beginning with visual design and later expanding her practice into lacquer craft, Hwang has participated in a variety of artistic activities and exchanges between Korea and Japan.

During her studies in Japan, Hwang was selected as a Rotary Yoneyama Memorial Foundation scholar and received the Kanazawa Mayor's Award and a scholarship award from a Japanese lacquer craft association. She was also selected for the '89 Design Competition Ishikawa and the 46th Kanazawa City Craft Exhibition. Hwang participated in exhibitions including a two-person exhibition of dyeing and lacquer in Kanazawa and the Kanazawa International Art Exchange Exhibition, where her exhibited work became part of the collection of Kanazawa College of Art. She has since continued her artistic practice through numerous group exhibitions in Korea.

Alongside her artistic practice, Hwang has also been active in education, teaching at institutions including Kyungsung University and Hannam University. She is a member of the Korean Lacquer Artists Association and is certified as a National Heritage Repair Technician specializing in lacquer craft. Drawing on the experience she has accumulated over many years in the field of lacquer craft, Hwang continues to develop her artistic practice.
