안은선 작가는 생명이란 무엇인가에 대한 깊은 성찰을 섬유 조형 작업으로 풀어낸다. 창조와 생성을 주관하는 생명체들의 유기적 생동감을 바탕으로 우리가 살아있다는 것의 본질적 의미를 탐구하며 작품을 이어가고 있다.

자수로 그려낸 생명의 구조는 무수히 많은 선들을 통해 생명을 이루는 세포들의 불규칙한 구조를 표현하고 있다. 얼핏 무질서해 보이는 불규칙함 속에서 고유한 규칙성을 찾아내는 것이 작가의 관심사이다. 생명을 가진 모든 것들은 겉으로는 불규칙하게 보이지만, 사실은 저마다 고유한 법칙을 따라 생성되고 성장한다는 점에서, 작가는 그 유기적 형태와 끊임없이 변화하는 가변성을 작품을 통해 제시하고 있다.

작가의 자수 작업에 앞서 진행되는 드로잉은 생명력, 생명 활동, 그리고 선이 지닌 조형적 가능성에 중점을 두고 표현된다. 이를 통해 생명이 순환하며 만들어내는 율동감과 선이 품고 있는 무한한 잠재력으로 생명 활동의 움직임과 자연의 본질에 다가가고자 한다.

An Eun Sun explores deep reflections on the concept of life through fiber sculpture. Rooted in the organic vitality of life forms that govern creation and generation, her works investigate the essential meaning of being alive.

Through embroidery, she portrays the irregular structure of cells that form life, creating an intricate web of countless stitches. What might initially seem like disorder is, in fact, a search for the inherent patterns that govern life’s organization. Though life forms may appear irregular, they each follow unique laws of growth and development. The artist presents these organic shapes, lines, and the constant variability of life in her works.

Before beginning her embroidery work, the artist creates drawings focused on vitality, life activities, and the sculptural possibilities of lines. Through this, she expresses the rhythm generated by the cycles of life, seeking to approach the movement of life and the essence of nature through the infinite potential carried by the lines.
