추혜인은 1983년 한국에서 태어나 2001년 영국 Benenden School을 졸업한 후 미국으로 건너가 RISD(Rhode Island School of Design)에서 산업디자인을 전공하였다. 홍익대 디자인경영 석사과정을 마친 후 현재 홍익대학교 국제디자인대학원에서 디자인학 박사과정을 졸업했으며, 현재 Art & Design International 디자인컨설팅 회사를 운영하고 있다. 작가는 사업가이면서 동시에 추상화가로서 다양한 재능을 발휘하고 있다.

추혜인의 회화는 디자인적 요소에 감성적 이미지가 표현되지만, 근간은 유의미하다. 즐거움과 희망에 관한 소재들을 대담한 색채를 차용하여 체험처럼 각인한다. ‘순수의 발현’이라 평가를 받는 그의 작품은 사람, 건물, 자동차, 꽃 등 표현하고자 하는 모든 사물을 단순하지만, 아이들의 순수함으로 접근한다. 단순하게 그려 넣은 선과 도형들은 유희적이면서도 전체적인 균형감과 완성도를 기반으로 한다. 이러한 작품은 색감과 형태가 서로 어우러져 관람객에게 상상력을 자극하는 경험을 선사한다.

2020년, 네 번째 개인전에서 거침없고 자유분방하면서도 작가만의 질서를 담아내는 드로잉 & 네온 페인팅 작품들을 공개했다. 작가는 뉴욕 첼시 국제 미술경연대회 수상, 대한민국 미술대전 수상, 영국 Wallpaper 매거진에서 선정한 서울 6인의 작가 선정, K디자인 어워드 그랑프리 수상, IF 어워드 패키징 디자인 부문 본상 수상 등 국내외에서 재능을 인정받고 있다.

Choo Hye In was born in Korea in 1983 and graduated from Benenden School in the United Kingdom in 2001 before moving to the United States to major in industrial design at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). After completing a master’s program in design management at Hongik University, she earned her doctoral degree in design at the International Design School for Advanced Studies at Hongik University. She currently runs the design consulting firm Art & Design International, demonstrating her multifaceted talents as both an entrepreneur and an abstract painter.

While her paintings incorporate emotional imagery within a design-oriented framework, their foundation remains conceptually meaningful. By employing bold colors, she imprints themes of joy and hope as experiential impressions. Her works, often described as an “expression of purity,” approach all subjects—people, buildings, cars, flowers, and more—with simplicity and the innocence of a child’s perspective. The simply drawn lines and geometric forms are playful yet grounded in overall balance and a sense of completion, offering viewers an experience that stimulates imagination through the harmony of color and form.

In 2020, at her fourth solo exhibition, she presented drawing and neon painting works that are bold and free-spirited while embodying her own internal order. Her talent has been recognized both domestically and internationally through numerous honors, including awards at the New York Chelsea International Art Competition and the Korea Fine Arts Exhibition, selection as one of six Seoul-based artists by Wallpaper magazine in the UK, the K-Design Award Grand Prize, and an iF Award in the packaging design category.
