최경주 CHOI KYUNG JOO
최경주 작가는 서울을 기반으로 다층적인 내면의 구조를 색의 중첩과 정제된 기호적 레이어로 표현하는 작업을 이어가고 있다. 화면 위에 쌓이는 색과 형태는 감정과 사고가 축적된 내면의 구조를 시각화한다.
서울과학기술대학교 조형예술과를 졸업하고 서울대학교 대학원 서양화과 판화 전공을 마친 그는, 2014년 ‘아티스트 프루프(Artist Proof)’를 론칭하며 본격적인 작품 활동을 전개했다. 검정과 별색을 중심으로 구조적 형태가 돋보이는 실크스크린 작업을 통해 독자적인 시각 언어를 구축했다.
이후 다양한 소재와 기법을 활용해 레이어를 확장하는 작업으로 회화와 판화, 디자인의 경계를 넘나드는 작가로 활동하고 있다. 감각적이고 희소성 있는 디자인으로 현대 미술계의 주목을 받으며, KT WiFi 스킨 콜라보레이션, Mmlg F/W, Camper(신세계 강남), 팀 팩토리 공공미술 일기도, 하시시박 2인전(라이즈호텔) 등 다양한 전시와 브랜드 협업을 통해 상업과 예술의 영역을 확장하고 있다.
Choi Kyung Joo is a Seoul-based artist whose work visualizes multilayered inner structures through overlapping colors and refined symbolic layers. The accumulation of color and form on the surface reflects the complex emotional and psychological landscapes within.
After graduating from the Department of Fine Arts at Seoul National University of Science and Technology and completing her graduate studies in printmaking at Seoul National University, she launched “Artist Proof” in 2014, marking a significant step in her artistic practice. Her silkscreen works, characterized by structural forms built with black and spot colors, established a distinctive visual language.
Expanding her practice through a wide range of materials and techniques, Choi moves fluidly across the boundaries of painting, printmaking, and design. Recognized for her sensorial and limited-edition aesthetics, she continues to broaden her reach through collaborations with diverse brands and artists, including projects such as KT WiFi skin collaborations, Mmlg F/W, Camper at Shinsegae Gangnam, Team Factory public art initiatives, and a duo exhibition with Hashish Bak at RYSE Hotel.
