최경문은 홍익대학교 미술대학 판화과와 동 대학원 회화과를 졸업하고, 극사실 회화의 흐름 속에서 독자적인 시각 언어를 구축해 온 작가다.

투명한 유리병과 반짝이는 빛, 표면에 맺힌 물방울, 굴절된 이미지와 실재의 겹침, 그리고 화면을 가득 채우는 장미의 유혹은 그의 작업을 떠올리게 하는 상징적인 모티프들이다. 그는 눈에 익숙한 일상의 기물을 회화적 대상으로 끌어올리며, 유리병 속에 자신만의 시각을 담아 관람자의 마음을 흔드는 새로운 정물의 세계를 제시한다.

<유리풍경> 시리즈에서 최경문은 유리병과 오브제, 그리고 그 속에 비친 굴절된 상을 교차시키며 두 개의 세계를 한 화면 위에 겹쳐 놓는다. 유리병 안에서 형태가 일그러진 오브제와 병 밖에서 온전한 모습으로 보여지는 오브제는, 실재와 왜곡, 드러난 것과 감추어진 것의 양면성을 드러낸다.

그의 화면은 시원하고 화사한 색조, 확대된 단편 이미지, 무게와 질감까지 전달되는 정교한 묘사를 통해, 한 번 보고 지나치는 인상이 아니라 반복해서 보더라도 새로이 감각을 환기하는 지속적인 시각 경험으로 작동한다.

Choi Kyungmoon graduated from the Department of Printmaking at Hongik University College of Fine Arts and later completed his graduate studies in Painting at the same institution. Within the trajectory of hyperrealist painting, he has established a distinctive visual language of his own.

Transparent glass bottles, shimmering light, droplets condensed on the surface, refracted images overlapping with reality, and roses that fill the canvas with quiet allure are symbolic motifs that define his work. By elevating familiar everyday objects into painterly subjects, he encapsulates his unique perspective within glass vessels and presents a renewed still-life world that subtly stirs the viewer’s emotions.

In the <Glass Landscape> series, Choi juxtaposes glass bottles, objects, and their refracted reflections, layering two worlds within a single frame. Objects distorted inside the bottle and those appearing intact outside it reveal the duality of reality and distortion, exposure and concealment.

Through luminous color tones, magnified fragmentary imagery, and meticulous depictions that convey even weight and texture, his canvases function not as fleeting impressions but as sustained visual experiences—continually awakening the senses with each repeated viewing.
