‘예술하는 사람’을 의미하는 예명 '아트놈(ARTNOM)'을 가진 작가 아트놈은 스스로를 ‘재미주의 작가(Funnism Artist)’라고 소개하며, 대중들이 즐거운 마음으로 감상할 수 있는 작품을 선보인다. 그의 작품 세계는 크게 두 가지로 나눌 수 있다. 하나는 자기복제술을 이용한 캐릭터 드로잉 시리즈, 다른 하나는 세밀한 작업이 요구되는 노동집약적 채색 시리즈이다.

자기복제술을 활용한 전자의 작업은 창을 안으로 여는 자기본위적인 작업이라면, 후자의 채색 시리즈는 창을 밖으로 내어 세상에 질문을 던지는 작업이다. ‘아트놈_캐릭터’는 가난한 백수 아저씨를 모티브로 2003년부터 사용되었으며, 이 캐릭터는 작가가 회사를 그만두고 다시 작업을 해야겠다고 결심한 시점에서 탄생했다. ‘강현하’라는 본명이 여성 이름과 같아서, 남성적 정체성에 대한 고민을 통해 캐릭터화가 이루어졌다.

‘모타루’는 말썽쟁이 강아지를 상징하며, “뭣하러 그러니”라는 언어유희에서 유래한 캐릭터이고, ‘가지’는 힘들었던 시절 동안 자신을 지지해준 토끼띠 아내의 이미지를 반영한 캐릭터이다. 아트놈의 아트팝은 팝아트 속에서 경험되는 직관적인 시각화와 직관적인 느낌을 총체적으로 보여주며, 대중들과의 소통을 목적으로 한다.

ARTNOM, whose name means ‘an artist who does art’, describes himself as a ‘Funnism Artist’ and presents works that can be enjoyed by the public with a cheerful and playful heart, often through his unique character. This character emerged during a time when the artist decided to leave his job and return to creating art. Since his real name, ‘Kang Hyun Ha’, is similar to a woman’s name, he turned his attention to male identity and incorporated this into his character.

‘Motalu’ symbolizes a mischievous dog, derived from the playful wordplay “Why do that?”, while ‘Gaji’ is a character that reflects the image of his supportive wife, born in the year of the rabbit, whom he has cherished since difficult times. ARTNOM’s art pop brings out timely and intuitive visualizations experienced within pop art, providing a collective and communicative experience with the public.
